Follow Me Home zipped the opening quarter mile in 21.95 opening up a two-length lead over Randaroo and Wild Snitch as the field moved through the far turn.  Through the far turn Randaroo took the lead by a length as the field passed the quarter pole getting the half mile in 45.29, while Follow Me Home now second tried to keep pace with the field moving into the stretch.  In deep stretch Elegant Designer, moved alongside her stablemate through the stretch then eventually dueled clear for a one and three-quarter-length victory in The Miss Woodford Stakes in a final time of 1:10.99.  Randaroo dueled her stablemate through the stretch then yielded the lead in the final yards getting second as Catsuit ran third.  Elegant designer is a three-year-old dark bay/brown filly owned by Michael H. Sherman, trained by Anthony W. Dutrow and was ridden by Mario Pino.

Ghostly Numbers blazed through the opening half mile in fractions of 21.52 & 43.89 taking a one and one half-length lead into deep stretch before yielding grudgingly to Joe’s Son Joey nearing the wire.  Joe’s Son Joey raced in the three path entering the stretch, was between rivals a furlong out then finished determinedly to prevail in the Decathlon Stakes in a final time of 55.48.  Ghostly Numbers, after setting a torrid early pace, held on for second as Abderian ran third.  Joe’s Son Joey is a five-year-old bay horse owned by Joseph R. Lunetta, trained by Timothy A. Hills and was ridden by Eibar Coa.

Tenpins took the lead at the half-mile point in the race approaching the five eighths pole, then rated the pace just off the rail, was under pressure into the final turn, dueled gamely with a short lead through the stretch and edged clear the last sixteenth beating Aeneas by a length at the wire to win the Iselin Handicap in a final time of 1:50.35. Aeneas made his bid angling widest on the final turn, sustained a long stretch drive and was just up getting the bob for place while Jersey Giant dueled close on the heels of the winner, relented the final sixteenth then was outfinished for place under the wire settling for show.  Tenpins is a five-year-old chestnut horse owned by Joseph V. Vitello, trained by Donald R. Winfree and was ridden by Robby Albarado.

Dream Deliverer led the field through the opening mile and one sixteenth getting the following fractions of 22.96, 46.60, 1:10.51, 1:35.75.  Prince Benjamin tracked the leader through the opening mile in second as Ballonenostrikes was never far back in third.  In the final sixteenth Ballonenostrikes rallied to the lead and drew away late outfinishing Dream Deliverer for the win in The $50,000 Choice Stakes in a final time of 1:47.87.  Dream Deliver finished a game second as Prince Benjamin finished evenly for show.  Ballonenostrikes is a three-year-old dark bay/brown gelding owned by Mack Fehsenfeld, trained by Dennis J. Manning and was ridden by Joe Bravo.

Special Judge was best from the gate and took an early lead pressed by Bishop Court Hill in second.  Special Judge ran the opening quarter mile in 21.39 and in deep stretch go the half in and equally fast 44.04 before just failing to stay at the wire losing to Only The Best at the wire by a nose in a final time of 55.95 for the win in the Select Stakes.  Special Judge after setting most of the fractions settled for second as Second In Command gained late for third.  Only The Best is a three-year-old bay gelding owned by Alvin E. Toffel, trained by Brian A. Lynch and was ridden by Carlos Cruz.

 

Only The Best, ridden by Carlos Cruz wins The Select Stakes.

Fashion Girl got the opening quarter in a swift 21.98 followed closely by both Standswithafist and Foolishly.  As the field made its way through the far turn Feline Story moved to a short lead in mid turn (four wide), getting the half mile in 45.58 and then drew clear entering the stretch and widened slightly under steady handling for a five and three-quarter length win in the Sorority Stakes in a final time of 1:10.93.  Whirlwind Charlott came through the turn five wide then dueled through the stretch finishing evenly in place while Stand On Top showed no speed off the rail, eased out entering the stretch and finished evenly mid track for show.  Feline Story is a two-year-old bay filly owned by Paul Einar Robsham, trained by Stanley M. Hough and was ridden by Jose C. Ferrer.

Beat The Traffic led the field through opening fractions of 23.06 and 46.71 as King Carlos and Tune Of The Spirit tracked the leader in second and third.   Through the far turn King Carlos took the lead started to draw clear nearing the lane.  Beat The Traffic was now back in second as Tune Of The Spirit continued on in third.  In deep stretch Grand Heritage eased out for the drive and closed well and edged clear at the wire for the victory in The Continental Mile Stakes in a final time of 1:36.96 as King Carlos settled a length back in second while Midnight Express finished third.  Grand Heritage is a two-year-old chestnut colt owned by Firestone Stable, trained by William I. Mott and was ridden by Julian Pimentel.

 

Grand Heritage, with Julian Pimentel in the irons, is victorious in The Continental Mile Stakes.

Wertz and Wild Buddy dueled through the opening half mile in 46.80 before Wild Buddy took the lead into the far turn.  North East Bound started his drive in the far turn running in second as Wertz was still holding desperately in third.  Spruce Run advanced position inside through the final turn, bid from the quarter pole, dueled with a short lead through the stretch and held well with steady insistence for the victory in The Bob Harding Stakes by a half-length at the wire over North East Bound, who finished second as American Freedom ran third.  Spruce Run is a five-year-old chestnut horse owned by Golden Dome Stable, trained by Linda Rice and was ridden by Jose C. Ferrer.
