The field was sent away to a good start. Silent Serenade, Sally Q, Pine Baroness and Paparika scrimmaged four wide for the early lead before Silent Serenade took command in the first turn running the opening quarter in 23:1. Pine Baroness settled into second position as the field was led down the backstretch by Silent Serenade running the half in 46:2. In the far turn, Silent Serenade opened up to a three length lead as Sally Q was trying to rally passed Pine Baroness for second as Paprika dropped back in fourth position after a wide early trip. At the wire Silent Serenade won The Spruce Fir Handicap by four lengths over Sally Q and Finally, who got up for third. Silent Serenade is a four year old filly owned by C.L.S. Stable, trained by Charles Carlesimo, Jr. and was ridden by Manuel Aguilar. |

After a good start, Malvern Rose took the early lead before Silver Stockings was rushed up the inside to overtake the lead clocking a 21:2 first quarter. Through the turn Malvern Rose regained the lead running the half in 44:4 as Silver Stockings dropped back to second while Curious Treasures and Emily's Angel were dueling for third. Magicalmysterycat was gearing up for the stretch drive in last place as five lengths separated first and last places. Through the stretch and to the wire Malvern Rose won the Miss Woodford Stakes by six lengths as Magicalmysterycat rallied from last to get second edging out Curious Treasures who settled for third. Malvern Rose is a three year old filly owned by Patricia R. Brunstetter, trained by J.C. Zimmerman and was ridden by Jose Velez, Jr.
