Finish Wire:

Captain Red led the field through an opening quarter mile in 22.15, two and a half lengths  in front of Canadian Frontier in second, another length back to Gracious Humor in third position.  Through the far turn Canadian Frontier moved even with the leader and then took the lead approaching the quarter pole and drew clear, racing off the rail into the lane and then responded well late holding off a closing Highway Prospector to win The Longfellow Stakes at the wire in a final time of 1:08.98.  Highway Prospector ran a game second as Richierichierich finished third.  Canadian Frontier is a five-year-old bay horse owned by Mrs. E Paul Robsham, trained by Stanley M. Hough and was ridden by Edgar Prado.

Finish Wire:

Balto Star set fractions of 24.35, 48.74, 1:14.11, 1:37.45,  for the opening half mile as Nothing To Lose and Request Parole were never further than a length from the leader.  In the stretch Balto Star weekend as Nothing To Lose moved to the lead a length in front of Request For Parole who was also closing on the leader nearing the wire along with Mr. O’Brien.  At the wire Request For Parole got up by a half-length over Mr. O’Brien in a final time of 2:13.37 to win The United Nations Stakes.  Mr. O’Brien closed gamely just missing in second as Nothing To Lose held for third.  Request For Parole is a five-year-old is dark bay/brown horse owned by Jeri and Sam Knighton, trained by Stanley M. Hough and was ridden by Edgar Prado.

Tangier Sound broke out some but managed to secure the lead going into the turn getting a half-mile in 44.30 before weakening to the oncoming Hidden Ransom and Melody Of Colors nearing the wire.  At the wire Melody Of Colors was driving on the outside getting the lead and then drawing off to a two-length victory in a final time of 55.93.  Hidden Ransom closed well to earn second as Chez Audra closed well for third.  Melody Of Colors is a five-year-old chestnut mare owned by Laurence I. Foggle, trained by Timothy A. Hills and was ridden by Eibar Coa.

Pocus Hocus led the field through the opening three-quarters in 1:11.44 two lengths in front of Yell and Sok’n Frolic.  In the stretch La Reason, after advancing along the rail through the final turn, angled outside Pocus Hocus turning for home, dueled clear of the leader approaching the furlong pole then held well with steady insistence winning The Molly Pitcher by three lengths in a final time of 1:51.10.  Yell endured a long stretch drive and held on to get place in the final yards as Bare Necessities got up for show.  La Reason is a four-year-old bay filly owned by K and K Racing Stable LLC, trained by David R. Vance and was ridden by Chuck C. Lopez.

After a good start Presidential Affair went to the front and never looked back going wire to wire winning the Skip Away Stakes by seven and three-quarter lengths in a new course record time of 1:38.85.  Donald’s Pride chased the leader the entire way in second never getting within three lengths of the winner clearly second best as Regal Sanction got up for third.  Presidentialaffair is a five-year-old bay gelding owned by Edward Ciresa and Vincent Papapandrea, trained by Martin E. Ciresa and was ridden by Stewart Elliott.

 

Presidentialaffair sets a new track record winning the The Skip Away Stakes.

Capeside Lady took the lead from Peace Symbol nearing the half mile marker and led the field the rest of the way getting three quarters in 1:10.85 the mile in 1:35.82 and the mile and one sixteenth in a final time of 1:42.27, winning the Little Silver Stakes by thirteen and a half lengths in front of Really American, who was no match for the winner but was clear finishing second as Legendary Journey finished third.  Capeside Lady is a three-year-old bay filly owned by So Madcapt Stable, trained by Todd A. Pletcher and was ridden by Chris DeCarlo.

Frisky Spider took the lead shortly after the start and led the field through opening fractions of 23.14, 46.09 and 1:09.72 as Musical Native chased the leader in second.  Nooligan was well placed in third position as Frisky Spider led the field into the stretch with a length and a half advantage.  In mid stretch War Trace, who fanned five wide into the stretch, challenged for the lead a furlong out then finished well while drawing clear of a tiring Frisky Spider to win The Choice Stakes by a length and three-quarters in front of Mosman Bay in a final time of 1:40.27.  Grand Heritage was up for third.   War Trace is a three-year-old bay colt owned by Joan G. and John W. Phillips, trained by James J. Toner and was ridden by Chris DeCarlo.

Honorable Cat led the field through three-quarters in 1:12.75 a half length in front of Ocean Drive who got a good stalking trip in second as Lojo ran third.  Entering the stretch Honorable Cat was even with Ocean Drive and then the stalker reached the front passing the furlong marker driving clear by two and three-quarter lengths in a final time of 1:41.79 winning The Eatontown Handicap.  After setting the early pace Honorable Cat held on for second as Fast Cookie ran third.  Ocean Drive is a four-year-old dark bay/brown filly owned by Bonnie and Sy Baskin, trained by Todd A. Pletcher and was ridden by Eibar Coa.

Tricky Storm went to the front and blazed through an opening quarter in 21.39 and through the stretch got the half mile in an equally sizzling 43.74 being tracked a half length back in second by Scattering Breezes.  In deep stretch the leaders gave way grudgingly to the fast closing Shades Of Sunny and Quest Of Fate as the four horses hit the wire together.  After the blanket finish the photo revealed a dead heat for the win in The John McSorley Stakes by Shades Of Sunny and Quest Of Fate in a final time of 55.69.  Another photo revealed a dead heat for show between the early pace setters Tricky Storm and Scattering Breezes.  Shades Of Sunny is a six-year-old chestnut gelding owned by Kenyon G. Furlong, trained by Ronald B. Houghton and was ridden by  Stewart Elliott.  Quest Of Fate is a six-year-old dark bay/brown horse owned by Everett E. Ayers, trained by Benjamin M. Feliciano, Jr., and was ridden by Joe Bravo.

 

A blanket finish produces a dead heat for winners Shades of Sunny and Quest Of Fate.
