Fortunate Streak took the lead after a good start followed by Key Lory, the leaders strolled the opening quarter mile in a leisurely time of  24:0.  Leave It To Beezer was content to rate off the lead tracking the leaders in third as the field entered the backstretch.  At the half-mile pole Key Lory put a head in front of Fortunate Streak as the rest of the field maintained their positions.  At the quarter pole Fortunate Streak regained the lead as Leave It To Beezer sat poised in second for the stretch drive while Prime Directive made a three wide move from the back of the pack as the field  approached the stretch.  In mid- stretch Leave It To Beezer took the lead and went on to win the Elkwood in a time of 1:44:3.  Leave It To Beezer is a seven year old gelding owned by Leo Gaspari Racing Stable, trained by Scott A. Lake and was ridden by Roberto Alvarado.

Leave It To Beezer wins The Elkwood Stakes.

Aly's Alley attained the lead running a half-mile in 48:4 after a good start by the entire field.  Entering the clubhouse turn Aly's Alley maintianed the lead followed by Tough Leader who fought his jockey Jose Ferrer as track announcer Larry Collmus noted the Tough Leaders jockey was "standing" in the irons.  Midway down the backside the field held its position as Aly's Alley posted a time of 1:14:2 for three-quarters of a mile followed by Tough Leader and Honor Glide.  Aly's Alley held the lead into the stretch as Honor Glide moved into second position as Down The Aisle made a big move through the far turn.  Monkey Puzzle tried to make a move on the inside but lacked enough running room to make a bid for the lead.  Down The Aisle took the lead one hundred yards from the wire to win the 2000 edition of The United Nations Handicap by one length at the wire.  Down The Aisle is a seven year old horse owned by Charles H. Deters, trained by William I. Mott and was ridden by Robbie Davis.

Sweep Well broke the quickest as the enitre field had a good start.  Holiday Music ran in second on the outside while Say Florida Sandy tucked in third position down at the rail.  The leader ran the opening quarter mile in 21:3.  At the half mile pole Sweep Well still held the lead as My Jeff's Mombo made a three wide move in the turn as Say Florida Sandy took back to fourth position momentarily before making a move to the outside as the field entered the stretch.  At the sixteenth pole, Say Florida Sandy found her best stride taking the lead from My Jeff's Mombo and went on to win The Shrewsbury Stakes by one and three quarter lengths at the wire.  Say Florida Sandy is six year old horse owned by John Rotella, trained by Juan Serey and was ridden by Joe Bravo.

Say Florida Sandy wins The $75,000 Shrewsbury Stakes with Joe Bravo in the irons.

The field broke well as Champagne Royal led out of the truf shute onto the main course running the first quarter in 23:1.  Enter and Gimmeakissee pressed the pace as Enter stuck a head in fromt of Champagne Royal as the field moved into the backstretch.  Entering the far turn Champagne Royal moved out off the rail and drove up alongside Enter midway through the turn.  Horatia moved into third position as the field entered the stretch when Champagne Royal started to draw away from Enter who was down on the rail.  Horatia found another gear as the field moved across the mouth of the turf shute and exploded to the lead as Camella was making a game effort in the center of the course.  Horatia went on to win by a one and one quarter lengths at the wire.  Horatia is a four year old filly owned by Gerald W. Leigh, trained by Christophe Clement and was ridden by Jose Santos.

Holy Quest stumbled at the start and was relegated to the back of the pack.  Eleven North took the lead and led into the clubhouse turn running the first quarter in 24:0.  Entering the backstretch Paparika pressed the pace and continued to press the pace down the backside.  The field remained  in the same positions while posting a half-mile time in 47:4.  At the top of the lane Paparika took the lead from Eleven North as Holy Quest started to make her move on the outside.  Eleven North faded to third on the rail.  In deep stretch Paparika took control and went on to win by three lengths at the wire.  Paparika is a four year old filly owned by Monkey Key Stable, trained by Charles Harvatt and was ridden by Jose C. Ferrer.

Ekundu led the field through a quarter in 24:0 after a good break from the gate for the entire field.  Western Squire was noted by track announcer Larry Collmus as running rank in mid pack.  Lendell Ray tracked Ekundu in second as the filed left the clubhouse turn into the backstretch.  The half-mile went in 47:4 as the two front runners led the field into the far turn followed by Handsome Trick and Dog Tags.  Ekundu led the field into the stretch as Lendell Ray moved alongside as the two prepared for the stretch duel.  As the two ran past the opening of the turf shute Lendell Ray powered past Ekundu and drew off in impressive fashion to win by five lengths at the wire.  Lendell Ray is owned by Dave Eigel & Kenneth Glass, LLP, trained by William I. Mott and was ridden by Aaron Gryder.

After a good start Chilukki and Stacey Tracey battled for the early lead.  Following close behind was Superduper Miss as the front runners posted a quarter mile time in 22:0.  In the far turn Stacey Tracey gave way to Chilukki as Superduper Miss drew up alongside the new leader.  As the field truned into the stretch it was a two horse race between Chilukki and Superduper Miss until the eighth pole when Chilukki spurted clear as track announcer Larry Colmus announced that Chilukki was now "pouring it on".  Superduper Miss was still in second battling to hold off the oncoming Elektraline who got up for third.  Chilukki won The Regret Stakes by five lengths on the wire in a time of 1:09:2.  Chilukki is owned by Stonerside Stable, LLC, trained by Bob Baffert and was ridden by Corey Nakatani.

Bella Chiarra took the lead after a clean start and led the field into the clubhouse turn while being pressed by Lu Ravi running the quarter in 24:0.  Midway down the backstretch Bella Chiarra led Lu Ravi by three-quarters of a length and Silverbulletday by a length through a half-mile in 47:4.  As the field entered the top of the lane Lu Ravi collared Bella Chiarra who was starting to tire in the turn comprimising the running space of Silverbulletday who was running behind the leaders on the inside.  Corey Nakatani then swung Silverbulletday to the outside for clear racing room as they set down for the stretch drive.  In mid stretch Lu Ravi looked like a winner but Silverbulletday dug in and found more running gamely to the wire but coming up a head short.  Lu Ravi won The Molly Pitcher in a time of 1:43:0.  Lu Ravi is a five year old mare owned by Yoshio Fujita, trained by C. Bowman and was ridden by Pat Day.

Rudirudy and Special Occasion were out of the gate the quickest after a clean start by the entire field.  Rudirudy led through an opening quarter in 20:4 as Special Occasion pressed the pace in second position.  As the leaders entered the stretch Rudirudy opened up a one and one-half length lead as General Express moved into third position now gaining on the leaders.  In mid stretch General Express made a fractious move to the inside rail almost clipping heals with Special Occasion who was desperately trying to hold second position as the early fractions of chasing Rudirudy had taken their toll.  Twenty five yards from the wire General Express moved up the inside of Rudirudy to put a head in front at the wire to win The Decathlon Stakes.  General Express is a five year old horse owned by Joel Kligman and John Tammaro, trained by John Tammaro and was ridden by Jose Velez, Jr.

 

General Express wins The Decathlon Stakes and sets the stakes, track and world records for the five furlong distance.  Jose Velez, Jr. was in the  irons.

Zing led the field out of the turf shute onto the main course after the field moved away from the gate in good fashion.  Zing posted an opening quarter in 22:3 pressed by T.N.T. Red followed by Laurica and Dare To Cope.  Zing continued to lead through the clubhouse turn and into the backstretch as the members of the field maintained their positions running in a compact group.  As the group exited the far turn Zing continued to lead as the field made their way into the home stretch.  Laurica and Secretsinthesky made bids for the lead before Buffalo Berry shot out of the pack, crossing the mouth of the turf shute, to take the lead and hold off Mi Moochie at the wire to win the Reeve Schley Stakes by a half-length at the wire.  Buffalo Berry is a three year old filly owned by Kathy Jo Stable, trained by William I. Mott and was ridden by Aaron Gryder who was in from New York for the mount.

The field broke from the gate cleanly for a good start.  Torgan lead the field out of the turf shute and onto the main course.  As the field made its way into the clubhouse turn Torgan continued to lead being pressed by Loyal Groom with Cyber Chat in third position.  On the backside Loyal Groom moved alongside Torgan as the half mile was run in 47:1.  Torgan continued to lead into the turn and then into the stretch as King Finesse made a three wide move off the turn entering the stretch.  Nearing the shute Targon switched leads and then switched back interuppting his stride for a split second as he battled King Finesse to the wire.  With fifty yards to go King Finesse drew alongside and appeared to have a nose in front but Targon was game and got his nose to the wire first winning the second leg of The Malouf Starter Series in a time of 1:40:4.  Torgan is a five year old gelding owned and trained by Joseph H. Pierce, Jr., and was ridden by Joe Bravo.

Torgan, #4 inside, rallies along the rail to beat #5 King Finesse in the second leg of The Malouf Auto Group Starter Series.  Joe Bravo was in the irons.

The field broke well from the gate except for Whata Brainstorm who was off a step slow.  D'Part and Dance Master scrimaged for the early lead as the field moved into the far turn running an opening quarter in an eye cathcing 20:4.  As the field moved out of the turn and into the stretch Dance Master drifted a length wide as D'Part cut the corner saving as much ground as possible.  Passing the turf shute D'Part opened up three-quarters of a length on Dance Master as Skyrunner was moving into third position on the rail.  At the wire D'Part was victorious by two and one-half lengths winning The Anderson Fowler in a time of 55:2.  D'Part is a three year old colt owned by Joseph Lunetta, trained by Timothy A. Hills and was ridden by Joe Bravo.

D'Part wins The Anderson Fowler Stakes at five furlongs on the turf.  Joe Bravo was the winning jockey.
