After a good start Adoration went to the lead and carved early fractions of 23.28, 47.08 and 1:11.10 as Elloluv stalked the leader in second.  Take Charge Lady saved ground stalking the pace as the field made its way through the far turn. Adoration kicked clear into the second turn and held on gamely under urging through the stretch winning the 2003 Breeders’ Cup Distaff by four and one-half lengths in a final time of 1:49.17.  Elloluv was clearly second best finishing two and one-half lengths in front of Got Koko, who  got up late for third.  Adoration in a four-year-old bay filly owned by Amerman Racing Stables LLC, trained by David E. Hofmans and was ridden Pat Valenzuela.

Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies

Forest Music took the early lead and led the field through the opening half mile in 46.82.  Victory USA was another length back in second while Ashado ran another half length back in third.  Down the backside Victory USA  took the lead by a half length as Forest Music started to give way in second while Halfbridled was gaining another half length back in third position.  Through the turn and into the stretch  Halfbridled took command after accelerating to the front in upper stretch, opened a clear advantage inside the furlong marker then drew off under steady left hand encouragement.  Ashado angled three wide for clear sailing leaving the quarter pole, then outfinished Victory U. S. A. for the place as the later held on for show.  Halfbridled is a two year old dark bay brown filly owned by Wertheimer Farm LLC, trained by Richard E. Mandella and was ridden by Julie Krone.

Net Jets Breeders' Cup Mile

Peace Rule led the field through the opening half mile in a swift 45.50 as Designed For Luck stalked the leader in second as it was another head back to Soaring Free in third.  Down the backside and passing the three quarter marker Designed For Luck took the lead by a head as Peace Rules started to tire while Soaring Free continued on in third place.  Through the turn and into the stretch Six Perfections (FR), who was reluctant to load at the start, chased between horses, came three deep into the stretch, rallied between rivals in deep stretch to gain the lead and proved best under urging winning the BC Mile in a final time of 1:33.86. Touch Of The Blues (FR), unhurried off the rail early, went up three deep on the second turn and four wide into the stretch and finished well for second. Century City (IRE) settled between horses, came out in upper stretch, split rivals with a bid in midstretch then rallied toward the inside getting the show spot. Six Perfections is a three-year-old black filly owned by Flaxman Holdings, Ltd., trained by Pascal F. Bary, and was ridden by Jerry Bailey.

After the start Zavata dueled through the opening quarter mile with Shake You Down and Cajun Beat zipping the distance in a rapid 21.02.  Through the far turn Cajun Beat took to the lead as Shake You Down still ran in second while Yankee Gentleman was holding on for third.  Through the turn and into the stretch, Cajun Beat after stalking the leaders while four wide along the backstretch, made a run to challenge at the quarter pole, drifted out after opening a clear advantage in upper stretch then drew away under steady right hand urging completing the distance in a swift 1:07.98 en route to the victory in the BC Sprint. Bluesthestandard, after dropping back before going a quarter, raced well back for three furlongs, split rivals while launching his bid on the turn then finished well along the inside to best the others for second. Shake You Down rushed up between horses after breaking slowly, dueled outside Zavata to the top of the stretch then weakened from his early efforts holding on for third.  Cajun Beat is a three-year-old dark bay/brown gelding owned by Padua Stable, John Iracane & Joseph Iracane, trained by Stephen R. Margolis and was ridden by Cornelio Velasquez.

Cajun Beat, in the yellow and green silks, moving to the lead and the victory in The BC Sprint.

Islington (IRE) pulled early, chased between horses then off the rail leaving the second turn, came out into the stretch, gained a short advantage outside the runner-up past the eighth pole and gamely prevailed under urging to win the BC Filly & Mare Turf by a neck in a final time of 1:59.13. L'Ancresse (IRE) stalked outside a rival then a bit off the rail, bid outside the pacesetter and took command nearing the stretch, fought back inside the winner through the final furlong and continued gamely to the wire for place. Yesterday (IRE) saved ground off the pace, moved up outside a rival on the second turn, split horses in the stretch and finished well for third.   Islington is a four-year-old bay filly owned by Estate of the Late Lord Weinstock, trained by Sir Michael R. Stoute and was ridden by K. Fallon.

Bessemer Trust Breeders' Cup Juvenile

Action This Day trailed while racing far back along the backstretch, launched a rally leaving the far turn, split rivals while gaining just inside his stablemate on the turn, advanced four wide into the stretch, charged to the front nearing the sixteenth pole then drew away under intermittent right hand urging en route to victory in the BC Juvenile in a final time of 1:43.62. Minister Eric was unhurried for five furlongs while saving ground, angled out midway on the turn, closed the gap while four wide approaching the quarter pole then finished well to clearly best the others for the place spot. Chapel Royal moved up from outside to contest the early pace, forced the pace while three wide along the backstretch, accelerated to the front at the three-eighths pole, opened a clear advantage midway on the turn, maintained a clear lead into midstretch and weakened under pressure in the final eighth settling for third.   Action This Day is a two-year-old bay colt owned by B. Wayne Hughes, trained by Richard E. Mandella and was ridden by David Flores.

Action This Day becomes the two-year-old division leader with his win in The Bessemer Trust Breeders' Cup Juvenile.

High Chaparral (IRE) stalked between horses then along the inside, split rivals into the second turn, came out into the stretch and rallied gamely while between foes late under urging to gain a dead heat win with Johar who was unhurried and angled in a bit off the rail early, moved up outside on the second turn, came five wide into the stretch and closed willingly three deep on the line. Falbrav (IRE) stalked three deep or outside a rival, bid outside the leader leaving the second turn, took a short advantage into the stretch, inched away past midstretch and held on gamely inside the top pair but was edged late settling for show.   High Chaparral is a four-year-old bay colt owned by Michael Tabor and Mrs. John Magnier, trained by Aidan P. O'Brien and was ridden by Kinane, M.J.  Johar is a four-year-old bay colt owned by The Thoroughbred Corporation, trained by Richard E. Mandella and was ridden by Alex Solis.

Pleasantly Perfect was eased back soon after the start, was unhurried along the backstretch, gradually worked his way forward on the far turn, closed the gap between horses to reach contention on the turn, angled four wide nearing the quarter pole, made a run to challenge a sixteenth out then wore down Medaglia D'oro in the final seventy yards for the victory in the Grade I $4 Million Breeders’ Cup Classic in a final time of 1:59.88. Medaglia D'oro was in tight when bumped by Congaree at the start, rushed up along the inside to contest the early pace, forced the issue inside Congaree for a mile, edged closer nearing the quarter pole, surged to the front in midstretch, fought gamely into deep stretch then yielded grudgingly for place as Dynever rallied late to get up by a neck over Congaree for the show spot.   Pleasantly Perfect is a five-year-old bay horse owned by Diamond A Racing Corporation, trained by Richard E. Mandella and was ridden by Alex Solis.
