After the break Marquet Madness was rated through the opening six furlongs in 1:11.65 moving through the far turn with a two and one-half length advantage.  Choice Play had chased the leader the entire way as State Treasure was starting to tire with La Reine Lionne moving into third.  In the lane Marquet Madness held the lead until deep stretch before giving way to Unbridled Essence, Denomination and La Reine Lionne.  At the wire Denomination made a timely rush splitting foes to win The 2011 Violet Stakes by a nose in a final time of 1:41.92.  Unbridled Essence was second while La Reine Lionne was third.  Denomination is a five-year-old bay mare owned by Mrs. Alec Head, trained by Christophe Clement and was ridden by Joe Bravo.
