The United Nations Stakes

Grade I  (58th Running)

$750,000

For Three-Year-Olds and Upward

One and Three-Eighths Miles - Turf Course

Saturday, July 2, 2011   Race 11

Main Track: Fast    Turf: Firm

Finish Wire:

Pulsion would go the front after the break and led the field through sensible fractions of 23.63, 48.58, 1:14.88 and 1:38.59.  Sleepless Knight would track the leader for the opening three-quarters of a mile before Stacelita dragged jockey Joe Bravo to the front entering the far turn.  Entering the lane Stacelita had a half length advantage while Teaks North had angled out and found running room in second as the field straightened out in the lane.  Chinchon, who was far back early, was now four wide after the far turn and was also running willingly as the field moved through the lane.  At the wire Teaks North stopped the tele-timer in 2:13.28 good for a half-length victory over fast closing Chinchon to win The 2011 United Nations Stakes.  Chinchon was second while Stacelita held on for third.  Teaks North is four-year-old dark bay/brown gelding owned by Julia C. Boutelle, trained by Justin Sallusto and was ridden by Eddie Castro.
