Little Stitch took the
lead from Cee The Country down the backside and got three-quarters in
1:13.40. Cee The Country was starting to tire in the far turn as Lil
Kiara was three wide and moving strongly toward the leader as the
field exited the turn. In the lane Lil Kiara put a head in front and
took the lead from Little Stitch as the two dueled through the lane
and to the wire. At the wire Lil Kiara was a half length winner of
the 2011 Spruce Fir Handicap in a final time of 1:42.77. Little
Stitch was a game second while it was seven lengths back to Ms Glory
Be in third. Lil Kiara is a four-year-old dark bay/brown filly owned
by S. Smith and Ko-Ko-Mo Stable, trained by Cathal A. Lynch and was
ridden by Carlos Marquez, Jr. |
