After the break Rule led the field through the opening half mile of 47.61 while Morning Line was kept to task by Eddie Castro just to the leaders outside in second.  Kensei tracked those two front runners intently as the field moved through the far turn.  In the turn Morning Line would put a head in front and take the lead entering the lane getting three-quarters in 1:11.44. Kensei was three wide in second and gaining on the leader who was starting to weaken. Rule dug in gamely inside but was third.  In the lane Kensei made the lead and drove to the wire to win The 2011 Salvator Mile by three-quarters of a length over a fast closing Soaring Empire while early leader Rule managed third.  Kensei is a five-year-old bay horse owned by Stonestreet Stables LLC, trained by Steven Asmussen and was ridden by Edgar Prado.
