On The Vineyard and Awesome Son bumped at the break as Awesome Son would quickly recover to lead the field through swift early fractions of 22.00 and 44.87.  Sean Avery stalked the leader pulling jockey Joe Bravo to the leader at the quarter pole and then when asked Sean Avery took charge and drew off through the lane quickly opening up daylight between him and the rest of the field eventually winning The 2011 Longfellow Stakes by a widening eleven and three-quarters lengths in a final time of 1:09.27.  Awesome Son was second best while Hillswick closed for third. Sean Avery is a five-year-old bay gelding owned by Black Swan Stable, trained by Allen Iwinski and was ridden by Joe Bravo.
