The Lamplighter Stakes

$70,000

For Three-Year-Olds

One and One Sixteenth Miles - Monmouth Turf Course

Saturday, May 28, 2011   Race 10

Main Track: Fast    Turf: Firm

Finish Wire:

After a good break Le Bon Ton Roule went to the lead headstrong and took the field through the opening three-quarters in 1:09.61 being pressed intently by I’m Steppin' It Up.  It was another four lengths back to the rest of the field as the leaders made their way through the far turn.  Entering the lane the leaders were starting to weaken as Beachcombing and J Isle were moving on the front bracing for the oncoming run of Crimson China on the outside.  In deep stretch Crimson China drew even and then clear to win The 2011 Lamplighter Stakes by a length at the wire in a final time of 1:40.73.  Beachcombing was second while J Isle was third.  Crimson China is a three-year-old dark bay/brown colt owned by Team Valor International, trained by H. Graham Motion and was ridden by Alan Garcia.
