After a good start Awesome Son led This One’s For Phil through the opening half mile in 44.80.  On the Vineyard chased the leaders another two and a half lengths back in third.  In the lane Awesome Son gave way as This One’s For Phil took command and drew off through the lane and held off a late charge from Wildcat Brief to win The 2011 Decathlon Stakes by a length and a quarter in a final time of 1:09.69.  Wildcat Brief was second and Awesome Son held on for third.  This One’s For Phil is a five-year-old chestnut gelding owned by Paul Pompa, Jr., Jack Mandato & Michael Dubb, trained by Anthony Dutrow and was ridden by Joe Bravo.

 

This One's For Phil is victorious in The 2011 Decathlon Stakes.
