After three scratches five starters went to the
post. After a good break Casino Transaction would engage what
was anticipated to be a protracted speed duel with Pure Disco, who
broke from the outside. Casino Transaction would lead the field
through the opening quarter in 22.01 as Pure Disco stalked the leader
a length back in second while Circuit Breaker was another head back in
third as the field made its way through the far turn. Through
the turn and into the stretch Casino Transaction would continue on the
lead and open to two lengths in the stretch as Circuit Breaker moved
outside Pure Disco coming out of the turn and bumped Jenny Bean Girl
in the process. In the lane Circuit Breaker cut into Casino
Transaction's lead but the leader had enough in the tank to win The
Red Cross Stakes by three-quarters of a length in a final time of
1:09.04. Circuit Breaker finished second four lengths in front
of Jenny Bean Girl. After the race a stewards inquiry and an
objection determined that Circuit Breaker had interfered with Jenny
Bean Girl resulting in a DQ which moved Jenny Bean Girl to second,
Devil House into third while Circuit Breaker was moved to fourth
position. Casino Transaction is a four-year-old chestnut filly
owned by Red Oak Stable, trained by Gregory D. Sacco and was ridden by
Herb McCauley. |
