Jazz Nation scrimmaged through the opening half with West Coast Coach and Cobra Strike in 21.2 and 44.2 setting up a closing run from Margo's Gift who passed the leaders nearing the eighth pole to win The Favorite Trick Stakes by one and one-half lengths in 1:10. Jazz Nation, one of the early pacesetters, was second while Lantana Mob was up for third.  Margo's Gift is a two-year-old dark bay/brown gelding owned by Kenny Alhadeff, trained by Doris Harwood and was ridden by Ricky Frazier.
