The Breeders' Cup Classic - Powered By Dodge

Grade I

$5,000,000

For Three-Year-Olds And Upward

One And One-Quarter Miles - Main Track

Saturday, October 27, 2007   Race 11

Main Track: Sloppy    Turf: Soft

Finish Wire:

After the break Hard Spun went out and led the field through the opening mile as Lawyer Ron and Diamond Stripes tracked the leader a few lengths back in second and third.  As Hard Spun made the far turn Curlin made his move on the leader, going three wide at the quarter pole, to challenge for the lead as Street Sense was trying to make it a three horse race through the lane.  In deep stretch Curlin pulled away from Hard Spun and went on to win The 2007 Breeders' Cup Classic - Powered By Dodge, by four and one-half lengths on the wire, stopping the tele-timer in 2:00.59.  Hard Spun was second best while Awesome Gem gained late to get up by a length over Street Sense for third.  Curlin is a three-year-old chestnut colt owned by Midnight Cry, Padua Stables, Stonestreet Stables & George Bolton, trained by Steven M. Asmussen and was ridden by Robby Albarado.
