The field was off to a good start except for Bayou Breeze who stumbled
at the break. Smokestack was intent to lead the pack through the
opening half-mile in a moderate 48.48 as Sense Of Style was pressing
the leader a half-length back in second while Bayou Breeze was in
third. In the far turn Smokestack continued on the lead although
Sense Of Style was now looking the leader in the eye as Bayou Breeze
was still pressing the pace between horses as the field entered the
stretch. In the lane Smokestack was desperately holding to a head
lead as Sense Of Style and Bayou Breeze were now even as the three
neared the wire. On the wire Bayou Breeze put a nose in front for the
score winning The Revidere Stakes in a final time of 1:42.59. Sense
Of Style, after pressing the leader the entire way, was second two
lengths in front of pace setter Smokestack in third. Bayou Breeze is
a three-year-old chestnut filly owned by Stronach Stables, trained by
Kiaran P. McLaughlin and was ridden by Aaron Gryder.
