The field was sent
away to a good start at the break except for Smart N Classy who hopped at
the start spotting the field at the beginning. Avery Hall sprinted to the
front of the field and led Irish Sovereign by a head passing the quarter
getting the distance in 22.04. Wildwood Crest was another half-length back
in third. Avery Hall once again was in front by a head at the half-mile call
over Irish Sovereign getting the half-mile in 45.65. Passaic moved into
third as Key To Love was now in fourth. In the lane Avery Hall drew clear
passing the eighth pole and drew off to win The Open Mind Handicap by five
lengths at the wire in a final time of 1:11.33. Cigno D’Oro closed well to
get up for second a nose in front of Smart N Classy, who after breaking
tardy, settled for third. Avery Hall is a three-year-old gray/roan filly
owned by Timber Creek Farms, trained by Cynthia G. Reese and was ridden by
Harry Vega. |
