At the break War’s Prospect stumbled and then regained himself and went to the lead getting the opening quarter in a swift 21.72.  It was a length and a half back to Mighty Oak chasing the leader in second and another half length back to Quiet Desperation in third as the field made its way into the far turn.  Through the turn War’s Prospect opened up the lead to two lengths over Mighty Oak and Quiet Desperation getting the half-mile in 44.19.  In the lane War’s Prospect widened his lead to five lengths before tiring late in the stretch but was victorious in The John J. Reilly Handicap by a length and one-quarter over Quiet Desperation in a final time of 1:09.84.  Quiet Desperation finished willingly for second as Upturn got up for third.  War’s Prospect is a four-year-old chestnut gelding owned by W.A.R. Stable, trained by William D. Anderson and was ridden by Jose C. Ferrer.
